Biography

Marcin Nikiforuk is a Toronto-based contemporary artist working across abstract painting, relief construction, and mixed media wall-based works. His practice draws from architecture, engineered systems, industrial forms, and the visual language of constructed objects. Through geometric composition, material contrast, and a balance of precision and irregularity, he creates works that move between image, object, and artifact.

Nikiforuk’s process combines sketching, digital modeling, fabrication, and layered surface development. Depending on the work, this can involve painting, resin, acrylic inlays, relief construction, 3D-printed elements, and, in more recent pieces, electroplated or electroformed copper components that expand the sculptural and material presence of the work. Across these processes, he is interested in tension: between control and disruption, engineered order and erosion, surface refinement and the physical language of construction.

His works often explore systems of structure, repetition, containment, and fracture, using abstract form as a way of holding both restraint and instability within a single composition.
